Idol Worship In A Transgressional Society

You know, I was thinking. As I was driving into work this morning with my favorite talk radio station on, all of the chit chat was about the American Idol finale last night. It took at least twenty minutes for them to get to the sports scores (both Pistons and Tigers lost). Now, I for one don't give a rip about American Idol so the rest of what you are about to read centers around this bias! Think of the this for a minute American Idol! Now, I think this does epitomize where our nation is at. Americans as a whole idolize those in the entertainment industry. Whether it be sports, music or movies. We see these people as the cream of the crop, the highest of the elite and those who have fulfilled the American dream. HOG WASH! This is exactly what the enemy wants us to do. Let me say that there is nothing wrong with enjoying good entertainment, I do it often. But be careful who you are putting on a pedistal. Watch out for who you look up to. In the words of Joshua "Choose you this day whom you will serve, as for me and my house we will serve the Lord".
Now all you American Idol freaks not spaz out on me. I am not slamming anyone who has been watching this program. Don't write anything that could get you Pudged, just think about what we are being fed by the mass media and be selective about what you buy into. Remember the words of a famous Senior Pastor "we're like sponges, what's in us will come out when we're squeezed"! What is in you today? Who are you serving today? Be blessed today!

Well said, DEP, I too refuse to buy into the whole "American Idol" thing. The kids on that show can sing very well, and they certainly have earned a recording contract at the end of it. But "Idol?" Come on. No human being should be idolized, it just sets you up for disappointment and depression. Don't get me wrong, there are people I admire, and those who have led me to do good, but I do not worship them. To worship a singer is ridiculous at best.

I have written and deleted a thousand emails to different people over the past few weeks. I post here because I think I am fairly confident that D.E.P. cares about me and my husband and knows I bear nothing but goodwill to all. I would like to encourage the THOROUGH reading of www.christianaffirmation.org. It is not a place to stake a "right or wrong" claim, but should provoke significant thought. My prayers are for all of us. Be blessed.

I went to the website listed by Mrs. Big Mac and do appreciate the content of the website. It is indeed a proper expanation of who the Churches of Christ are and what they believe. I neither condemn or condone the website itself but I personally have a couple of key differences in the interpretation of what would be "acceptable" worship to God. Again, I think this is an excellent representation of the Churches of Christ as a whole and is in no way offensive to me nor should it be to the regular readers of this blog. Please, go read it and accept it for what it is, a well written explanation of a churches doctrine. BBT

Mrs. Big Mac-
I read the entire page you referenced four times now. Thank you for sharing it with us. I think that all of us do care and love each other deeply, I know that I care about and love every single person that I have worshipped with over the last five years, as well as before. I bear no ill will toward anyone, and I truly believe there was a difference in vision that caused our divide. Regardless of where and with whom we are worshipping our Lord, we are still worshipping that same Lord. My prayers are and will continue to be for all of us as we grow in our discipleship with Jesus. I hope none of my words offend you or Mike, I do love you very much.

Mr. & Mrs. Big Mac are awesome! Welcome to the dougEpudge zone, a place where all ideas, comments, questions and nephews 1-3 are welcome!

Pertaining to the aforementioned website, I think it is extremely healthy for everyone to know what someone else is thinking. It is a great thing to question why you beleive something or don't. In doing so you deepen your convictions or see something in a way you've never seen it before. We should never EVER get in such a rut of routine that we forget why we were doing whatever in the first place.

Thank you so much for your love and kindness and providing my boy w/ his much needed shys!!

Well im sure im about to be the first to get pudged!
Although I do agree that there is a
BIG world following for Idols, wheather it be sports or entertainment you got a take it for what is is, ENTERTAINMENT!
It's sad to see the way that this show tipifies the world and mainly the American ways of thinking.
"Thou shalt worship no other God",
That's the one we should be focusing on!!

So on to the pudged part.
What's up with the new picture?
You look stumped!
Hey I know that look, It's the same look adam gives me when he doesn't have an answer!

Note to #4 Who loves ya baby!!

I've seen that movie too, so goodbye yellow brick road...

I mean I have seen that picture before. Reminds me of a song.

To number 1 (for now), this picture was not put on to this blog for your personal critique! The "look" on my face is simple bewilderment over the fact that when I look at my family I simply am stumped. So many Mollette's, so little intelligence. How can someone with an IQ in the negative numbers come onto MY blog and criticize a picture. Do you not have a blog of your own for your personal slams on peoples photographic images. Oh nephew of mine consider this a very light Pudging and don't push me on this. BBT

That's why there days I thank the Lord above that i'm a Fraley, I know I have mollette in me but sometimes I can trick myself into thinking that i'm not a mollette. And before you say it d.e.p. I know about the Fraleys but at least I don't have the mental problems the mollettes have. have a good one :-o
