Consume Me

You know, I was thinking. We read in the book of Romans in chapter 12 how Paul is telling the people in the Roman church to "offer your bodies as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to God"! I think about the idea of sacrifice and am reminded of the sacrifice that the prophet elijah set on an alter to prove God's power. He had the people absolutely cover the sacrifice and the alter with water. When Elijah prayed not only was the sacrifice consumed, but the entire alter also. That how I want the Holy Spirit to consume me. Not just partially but entirely until nothing of me is left that doesn't reflect the power of God. God wants to consume us, but he has given us free will. We must allow that will to be broken and surrender totally to God. Where are you at today? Do you still want control? Be blessed today.

Consuming Fire - Third Day

Set this place on fire
Send your spirit, Savior
Rescue form the mire
Show Your servant favor

Yesterday was the day that I was alone
Now I'm in the presence of Almighty God

and yes our God, He is a consuming fire
And the flames burn down deep in my soul
Yes our God He is a consuming fire
He reaches inside and He melts down this
cold heart of stone.

Set this place on fire
Send Your spirit, Saviour
Rescue form the mire
Show your servant favor

Yesterday was the day that I was alone
Now I'm in the presence of Almighty God

and yes our God, He is a consuming fire
And the flames burn down deep in my soul
Yes our God He is a consuming fire
He reaches inside and He melts down this
cold heart of stone.

Did you realize that inside you there is a flame?
Did you ever try to let it burn?

wait...I'm NOT in control????

JK, I struggle with that illusion ALL THE TIME...today you have blessed me with a prayer to the Almighty God. Thank you.

I struggle with the control issue. However I have really come a long way and have given it up to Him more recently, especially with Chris' new buisness. We struggle so much right now (financially), however God always comes through. I do not have control, and life is more peaceful everytime I'm reminded of this.

I like to believe that I am yeilded to the ontrol of the Holy Spirit. But more often than not I keep finding that that I am more in control than I have given up. Why is it so hard to surrender control?

We could set and quote song lyrics all day and I love them all. But what do YOU think and what do YOU feel. Kodiak, thanks for sharing your thoughts as well as the song. Everyone remember the more you give to Him the more you will desire to give Him even more. BBT

Did I share song lyrics????????

For starters, what song did Kodiak share? Secondly, what's wrong with letting a poet speak for you? They have a gift of putting your feelings into eloquent verse. Why not take advantage of that?

My PERSONAL feelings on this issue...we get in the way of the All-Consuming-Fire way to much!

Are we in control by being selective in which blogs we visit and which blogs we leave comments on?

Since I got married I have gave up control many times since then. I have saw that sometimes it's not bad to give up control. But I know I still have a long way to go an this one. So I know if I have a hard time on giving control up with my marriage, I know I have a hard time giving it up to god and letting him have control. :->

First of all a couple of things. Russ I stand corrected it was Bruiser not Kodiak that left the DC talk song. I like to hear what you think, not what you listen to. Digger, I guess I am not sure what you are getting at. Are you being critical because of who's commenting to whom? I don't even know who you are. Do you have a blog? Are you suggesting that every person everywhere should visit and comment on every blog everywhere? That's not possible! Are you also suggesting that by only visiting certain blogs that a person is not letting the spirit have control? I am always willing to visit new blogs but as of yet the Father in heaven has not given me control of all space and time, so my time on the net does have its limitations. If you have a blog let me know what it is and I'll be glad to visit you. If you have something that provokes a comment from me then I will leave it. If you are just wishing to be critical and/or devisive, then I would appreciate it if you wouldn't share that with me or those who read this blog. But, no matter what be blessed today.

I believe that was a pudging!

Not really, I am just curious who Digger is and what they are truly asking in their comment. A Pudging is much more up close and personal than that was. BBT

perhaps Digger was just trying to get under your skin...no wait...thats a chigger

Just when I thought I was going to get a pudge.
Thanks for the correction DEP, I forgive you.:):):)
Digger makes a good synopsis though. When we visit each others blog, do we say an encouraging word or two? I know I don't always post a comment, perhaps I should.

I think Digger got some dander up.

Why did Digger get so much spotlight?? Have you asked yourself that question. LOL

You ask a very good question Kelly. It never bothers me that someone might give a logical dissagreement to something that I say or write. Everyone has a right to their opinion. But for someone to come on with an "assumed" name and makes statements that I consider to be divisive to a very good ministry among a group of believers does get my dander up a little. I just would like to know who this person is and to correct any wrong that I have done to them. I want an opportunity to show love here and I am denied it. That's what has bothered me so much about their comment. BBT

Well if they read your blog again they will know that you have expressed love.

I'd like to answer digger objectivly...

Personally I have quite a few bloggers listed on my blog yet I don't visit them all daily. They're there for reminders and for anyone else that might be interested. The ones I visit regularly are the ones that I'm naturally drawn to. Just like at work I'm drawn to interact with certain people. Just like at church I'm drawn to interact with certain people. Just like life I'm drawn to interact with certain people. Doesn't mean I hate the others or have any less love for them. We're all made different and are drawn to certain people. Could you imagine trying to read and comment on every blog you know about? Impossible. Am I displaying "control" by calling to see how a friend is doing and not calling every other friend I've ever met as well? Don't really think so.

Anyway, sign up for a blog, send us the link and I promise at least one comment! =)

Did you know I also feel led to NOT comment on certain blogs at certain times? Weird huh?

One thing for certain about Digger, he/she sure drove up your comments.
